Hello Jiaxiang / Joshua,

I agree Sodipodi is a great tool.
Thanks Jiaxiang for your Video Tutorials Online !

There is a place where you could speak about your work :

I send there all I can find about Sodipodi but I'm French and my english
is not enough good so I only write in French section.
I usualy write in the French section (like others) and I gonna speak
about your tutorials (even if it's only in english)
You'll see there :

(Note for french users : see the link about linuxgraphic in the page)

Subject: [Sodipodi-list] Sodipodi Video Tutorials Online
Good day.
Sodipodi is a great tool.
I've made a few Sodipodi video tutorials that give
super-quick introductions to the tools and powers of
Sodipodi. Since they begin from the absolute basics of
Sodipodi, I don't expect anyone on this mailing list
to need them, but maybe you know someone who might.
http://apol-mp.com.tw/~joshuantaiwan_apol-mp/sp_t.html
There are only 5 videos as of this writing, but ,ore
in-depth video tutorials are planned for the future...
Remember to support Sodipodi development by supporting
Sodipodi developers!

Wow, Patricia!

Thanks for the nice link.

I can't wait to do some more complex tutorials.

My next major goal is to get a couple Sodipodi (plus GIMP) portfolio images
into "the world's best-selling creative magazine": Creative Arts Magazine.
(With credits and praise for both.) Their most recent issue was soaked with
Adobe; both the artists and writers of the magazine were saying how great Adobe
products are - it even had an entire DVD of Adobe trial products (Adobe
Creative Suite)! :Z

With such quality programs like Sodipodi and GIMP out there, it makes me
frustrated that people will spend hundreds on "industry standard" software and
totally miss these jewels of not just open source software but of software in
general.

Besides, donating part of the hundreds of dollars to Sodipodi and/or GIMP
developers would be better spent, in my opinion.

(Since discovering Sodipodi and the GIMP, I've stopped using Adobe products
entirely.)

News: Unknown to the Sodipodi developers, I'm working on a manual that
documents ALL the tools and features of Sodipodi. Twelve pages have already
been written - and I haven't gotten to the dialogs yet.

Totally agree with you ! It's why I try to participate too. I try to
speak about open source in africa where people in universities, etc.
can't buy Adobe, Word...
But it's not very easy because the industry send them free product
(against open source)...

Great !!!!
We'll wait for your good job. I hope your contribution will help Lauris
Kaplinsky to come back to us because he seems to be sad since the
begining of inskape. He has no job and hope to make money with Sodipodi
(maybe by selling to companies and still free for users ?).

Does anybody know how to get in touch with Lauris? (I sent an e-mail to him,
but there hasn't been any reply.)

I'm trying to send him a small donation offline to thank him for Sodipodi.
(>>>I'd encourage anybody who uses and enjoys Sodipodi to do it too.<<<)

His resume shows him to be a really talented guy. It seems hard to believe that
he can't find a job. :(

Hi,

Lauris is my brother and I can say the following: he works on Sodipodi
periodically. He may be away for months and then he is back and takes
care of everything that has happened since. When that will happen is
unfortunately very much unknown and there is not much anyone besides
himself can do to bring him back ;)

The best,

L.
